A $3 billion business with 9,000 employees acquired a $2 billion overseas competitor with about 6,000 employees.

The challenge required integrating executive teams of 12 different nationalities on four continents. We profiled tams composed of 200 senior managers selected by the CEO from each company, focusing on their readiness to accept change, their cultural adaptability, and (as the CEO defined it) their strength to “look around corners.” Further evaluation concerned entrepreneurship, analytical power, industry knowledge, and decision-making talents.

MAP identified a cadre with cross-border capabilities, and underscored matches of tasks and talents. Within a year, profit had increased 20 percent.
